This page is a living archive of what’s unfolding in and around my work.

Here you’ll find updates and news on exhibitions, publications, interviews, podcasts, and conversations that extend beyond the studio - moments where the work meets the world.

Some entries mark milestones.

An article in Showcase My Art titled: 'Liz Murphy: Intuition, Emotion and the Language of Abstract Expression.'

by Caroline Margaret

This openness is a defining characteristic of Murphy’s practice. Her paintings do not demand explanation. They ask for attention, stillness, and engagement.

Murphy’s paintings often reward prolonged viewing. What initially appears spontaneous reveals layers of complexity over time, including traces of previous marks, softened edges, and thoughtful adjustments that speak to patience and discernment.

The theme of this show is based around ‘an exploration of contrast as a lived experience’.

Rather than resolving opposites, these paintings hold them in relationship - intuition and structure, chaos and order, softness and strength, restraint and release. The work lives in the space between, where tension becomes generative and meaning remains open.

Guided by instinct and informed by years of visual discipline, each painting unfolds through layering, revision, and attentive listening. What emerges is not a fixed narrative, but a felt presence - a quiet reckoning with what it means to be fully human, complex, and in motion.

My work on view explores contrast, intuition, and emotional resonance through layered color and mark-making, inviting viewers into a quiet yet powerful inner dialogue.
